Merry Christmas!
By Judy Comstock

For the second time in my life, I joined the ranks of Black Friday (shopping the day after Thanksgiving). Some analysts say these shoppers may positively impact our economy. It was a need and the possibility of deals that motivated me. At 6:00am I purchased a gift for my step-mother at Office Depot. My $50 rebate made these two computer cameras very affordable. My step-mother can use the cameras for frequent Skype conversations with her grandsons. It felt good to find bargains in the four stores I shopped during those early morning hours. All of the gifts I bought are now wrapped and boxed to mail to my extended family across the country.

My husband has a different take on shopping. He doesn't find any pleasure in the process. In fact, one Christmas I bought a gift for myself, wrapped it and put a tag from Santa on the package under the tree. As I excitedly displayed the contents, I got a kick out of watching my husband calculate what had just happened. Since then, I have discovered that I am not the only person to occasionally do this kind of gift giving. Getting something for yourself that you really want or need eliminates that whole returning and exchanging agony.

I have a gift recommendation. Give yourself a registration for CPC! Use the registration discount code on this E-magazine. Link up with other leaders and get the Group Registration Rate. Give up Star Bucks twice a week over the next year to pay for your CPC Registration. Find a hotel roommate on the CPC registration pages. Seek out a business person at your church and ask them to give you some of their airline miles to get to the conference. In other words, this gift to yourself is worth the effort. It isn't trendy and won't lose its value. CPC is a life-changing celebration of what we do all year long.

Points for Praise, Part 1 by Jeff Smith Points for Praise, Part II
By Jeff Smith

In our first article, "Points for Praise", I suggested that we should use praise to introduce our children to the concept of worship. My definition of praise was "our response to the character of God in terms of physical or verbal expression." In the previous article, we discussed the character of God and keeping God the focus of our praise. In this article, I would like to address the idea of our responses through "physical or verbal communication". Read More
