International Ministry with INCM
by Marion Jean Grant
My own ministry has been impacted positively as a result of involvement on the INCM Global Focus mission projects. As a missionary with BCM International (Canada) Inc., I have traveled to many countries. For 21 years I served in Pakistan teaching Bible to children and young women at a Christian hospital. Since full time missionary work has been my calling, I did not necessarily believe that short terms missions was as valuable until I went on my first INCM trip to Malaysia.
Training leaders and teaching Bible at a camp and conducting children's rallies opened my eyes to the value of short-term missions. Using the basics of children's ministry to train leaders in various countries and offering practical ideas to effectively teach children showed me that this was what leaders really needed. They need approaches they could use in their own culture and in a way they could be successful. Returning to Malaysia, I saw these same leaders and meeting new ones encouraged me to do more. These leaders were excited and wanted more training. They had been using what we taught them in the first INCM trip to their country.
With INCM I have traveled to India, Moldova, Romania, Kazakhstan, Panama, and` three times to Malaysia. In 2008, I organized the in-country arrangements for the project in Pakistan. I am getting ready for two more sites for the INCM Pakistan 2009 Project.
On these short term projects, housing is not necessarily comfortable or convenient. Travel is tiring and our luggage is sometimes delayed. The food we are offered can be strange, but the goal of fulfilling God's purpose and His leading makes is all worthwhile. Training leaders who have so little, who travel far to be trained, and who accept the training with grateful hearts brings incredible joy and fulfillment for each participant.
