Bible Verse Memory Game
developed by Kurt Jarvis
Materials:
Sixteen 8X11 or larger laminated, brightly colored stock cards with selected Bible verse references printed in large lettering on the front of the card. These references can be in more than one language, i.e. English and Spanish, or one language.
Each card front should also have a point value (whatever point values you want for the game) with the easier verses having lower point values and the more challenging verses having higher point values.
One the reverse side of the cards, the Bible verse is printed out in large lettering. For bi-lingual teaching, the verse can be printed in both languages.
Two packs of 5X8 cards set up the same as in the large set. These sets are for the teams to review before the game is played.

How the game is played:
Two teams are arranged. For mixed age groups, make sure you have easier verses the younger children can learn as well as more challenging verses for the older children.
Teams are given a 5X8 stack of verse cards with 15 minutes to review the verses.
The 16 cards are placed on the floor or outside on the ground in a block arrangement. The verse reference side is placed facing up.
One player from each team, in turn, tosses a bean bag from a marked distance (younger children can be set closer than other children) onto the card set. If the bag lands or touches any of the verse cards, that player has the opportunity to say the verse. They must say the verse word perfect.
If the player says the verse correctly, the team scores the points on the card.
Once said word perfect, that verse card is removed from them playing field. If the player does not say the verse word perfect, the card is turned back over and remains in the game.
The game is played until all cards have been removed by correctly saying of the verse.
Points are totaled and the team with the highest score wins.
Note: Players are reminded that when we learn God's Word, we are not losers; everyone is a winner.
